oVirt CSI module (oVirt Provisioner)
In the Shturval platform, the oVirt CSI Module allows you to use cloud storage of the oVirt virtualization platform. The module is a Container Storage Interface (CSI) driver and is responsible for allocating a Persistent Volume, mounting and unmounting a volume from a virtual machine.
Installation in a cluster
The oVirt CSI module is not a critical service for the operation of the Shturval platform.
If CSI integration was enabled when creating a cluster with the oVirt provider, the oVirt CSI Module will be installed and no manual configuration will be required.
To enable the module in the created cluster, in the platform’s graphical interface, go to the Installed services page of the Services and repositories section. Find the oVirt CSI module (shturval-capov-csi) and go to management.
In the Service Specification block you must indicate:
- server access parameters (
ovirtCredentials); - configuration of the used Storage for Persistent Volume (
storageDomainName).
Customvalues example
ovirtCredentials:
ovirtCaBundle: "<your-parameter-value>"
ovirtInsecure: "<your-parameter-value>"
ovirtPassword: "<your-parameter-value>"
ovirtUrl: "<your-parameter-value>"
ovirtUsername: "<your-parameter-value>"
storageClass:
parameters:
storageDomainName: "<your-parameter-value>"
| Parameter | Description | Data type | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
ovirtCaBundle | CA bundle for oVirt Engine certificate verification, encoded in base64 | string | * |
ovirtInsecure | Disables SSL certificate verification oVirt Engine. Specify the value in quotes | boolean | "false" |
ovirtPassword | User password for authentication in oVirt Engine | string | Password |
ovirtUrl | oVirt Engine Server URL | string | https://rhv-mg.su/ovirt-engine |
ovirtUsername | Name CSI Storage. Available CSI Storage can be found in the oVirt virtualization platform. Must be specified with domain | string | shturval@domain.local |
storageDomainName | Name of the Storage Domain in oVirt where virtual machine disks will be created | string | VM_Store |

Complete the module installation by selecting the required control mode and click Save.
Please note! For the oVirt CSI Module to work correctly, the Cluster Network Management Module (shturval-networking) must be running in the cluster.
Once the installation is complete, a StorageClass named ovirt-csi will be added to the cluster. To further allocate PersistentVolumes in StorageClass ovirt-csi by default, you need to change the StorageClass settings. To do this in the graphical interface:
- go to the StorageClasses page of the Storage section;
- open the StorageClass named local-path and go to the Labels and Annotations tab;
- remove the
storageclass.kubernetes.io/is-default-class:trueannotation andstore changes.
New PersistentVolumeClaim (PVC) will now be allocated a PersistentVolume owned by ovirt-csi.
Using oVirt CSI in a cluster with the Shturval v2 provider
Please note! Using oVirt CSI in a cluster with the Shturval v2 provider is only possible using hosts deployed on the oVirt (RHV) virtualization platform.
Installation when creating a cluster
If you install the oVirt CSI Module when creating a cluster with the Shturval v2 provider, specify the customvalues from the section above.
Installation in a deployed cluster
If you have deployed a cluster with the Shturval v2 provider on oVirt virtualization platform hosts and want to add oVirt CSI to a running cluster, you must:
- If oVirt CSI was previously installed, remove it.
- Install the oVirt CSI Module in the
shturval-capov-csinamespace. - Add a config to customvalues, filling it with your data.
StorageClass will be created automatically as default. Remove the default flag from one of the StorageClass (local path or ovirt-csi).
