Snapshotter operator
На этой странице
The snapshotter operator provides management of snapshots of Persistent Volumes in the Kubernetes cluster. Snapshots are used with compatible CSI drivers. CSI drivers in the Shturval platform that support snapshots:
Snapshots provide a standard way to copy the contents of a volume at a specific point in time without creating a new volume. Snapshots may be necessary, for example, for database administrators to create backup copies before performing operations.
Operator CRD
To manage snapshots, the snapshotter operator uses a Custom Resource Definition (CRD):
- VolumeSnapshotClass - attributes for creating snapshots are set in the custom resource. The main parameter is the CSI driver used;
- VolumeSnapshotContent - actual snapshot content associated with VolumeSnapshot;
- VolumeSnapshot - an object in Kubernetes that describes a PVC snapshot.
Operator configuration in the platform
The snapshotter operator is critical to the operation of the Shturval platform (cannot be disabled). By default, the module is installed in the client clusters and management cluster in the enabled state.
To view the service status, go to the Installed Services page of the Services and Repositories section. Find Snapshotter Operator (shturval-snapshotter) and click Manage.
For the module to work correctly, CRD of the snapshotter operator (shturval-snapshotter-crds) must be enabled.
