Operating system requirements

Cluster node OS requirements #

1. All cluster nodes must use the same operating system (OS) kernel version.
2. All cluster nodes must have the following packages installed:

• openssh-server;
• packages required to install openssh-server;
• package manager: yum or apt.
• Sudo package for running commands with elevated privileges.

3. On all cluster nodes (Control Plane, Worker), enable cgroup v2 at the grub level (kernel parameter systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=1).

On distributions with the grubby utility (for example, RHEL family, RED OS, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux):

sudo grubby --update-kernel=ALL --args="systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=1"
sudo systemctl reboot

On distributions without grubby (for example, Debian, Ubuntu), add systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=1 to kernel parameters through GRUB configuration (/etc/default/grub), update the boot loader configuration according to your OS documentation, and reboot the node.

Supported operating systems for cluster nodes #

For cluster nodes (Control Plane, Worker), the platform supports the following operating systems:

* Before installation with the Shturval v2 provider, disable Firewalld on all hosts.

Platform hardware must be physical x86 servers and/or virtual servers running oVirt version 4.4 or later and/or VMware vSphere hypervisor version 6.7 update 3 or later.
