Compliance between the versions of Shturval and Kubernetes

Platform and Kubernetes compatibility.

Each version of the Shturval platform corresponds to a specific version of Kubernetes, however, each version of the platform supports the creation and operation of client clusters not only of the target one, but also of earlier versions of Kubernetes. When you create a cluster, you select a Kubernetes version from the list available for your version of the platform. This page contains a correspondence table.

Use it before a minor platform update (during a platform update, there is a separate “updating the Kubernetes version” step on the dashboard), when selecting the Kubernetes version in VM templates, and when checking the scripts from How updates occur in open and closed loops. For valid transitions between platform versions, see update version map.

Where the Kubernetes version is selected

  • When creating a cluster - a drop-down list of Kubernetes versions in the GUI.
  • In provider VM templates - each template is tied to the Kubernetes version.
  • When updating the platform - a minor update may include updating the version of Kubernetes in the cluster (see steps in description of the update process).

Upgrading the Kubernetes version on an existing cluster

Preparatory steps for nodes and templates after upgrading the platform are in the same process description and in the section Updating the Kubernetes version in a cluster for the cluster administrator. Additionally, if necessary, use the VM Nodes and Templates page.
