Access methods
На этой странице
This page describes basic scenarios for accessing clusters from the command line. Choose the method that fits your situation, then follow the linked instructions.
Two main approaches
- Getting cluster kubeconfig — download
kubeconfigfrom the GUI and usekubectl. - kubectl-shturval-plugin — install the plugin, use
kubectl-shturval-plugin.yaml, or sign in directly withkubectl shturval login.
See the table below for a detailed comparison.
Prerequisites
kubectlinstalled;- a platform account with access to the target cluster;
- for
kubectl-shturval-pluginscenarios — thekubectl-shturval-pluginplugin installed; - for non-GUI scenarios — known
shturval-backendconnection parameters, includingserver-url, username, andclient-secret; - if
client-secretis unavailable, request it from the platform administrator. The value is in thebackend-*secret in theshturval-backendnamespace of the management cluster.
Scenario comparison
| Scenario | GUI required | Output | When to use | Limitations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Downloaded kubeconfig | Yes | clustername.conf | Quick access to a single cluster | Token is valid for 24 hours by default |
| Plugin config from GUI | Yes | kubectl-shturval-plugin.yaml, then clustername.conf or all-clusters.conf | GUI is available and you prefer not to enter parameters manually | Requires the plugin to be installed |
| Plugin config from CLI | No | kubectl-shturval-plugin.yaml, then kubeconfig | GUI is unavailable or you prefer not to use it, and connection parameters are known | Connection parameters must be known in advance |
| Direct login without config file | No | kubeconfig for one or more clusters | One-time login without saving a YAML file | All parameters must be passed to the command |
See Typical access errors if cluster login does not work.
