Purpose
shturval-rollouts is a module for managing the deployment of application services based on Argo Rollouts. Extends Kubernetes capabilities for incremental upgrades with health checks and rollbacks.
Argo Rollouts uses a custom Rollout resource that replaces Deployment when advanced deployment strategies and progressive application delivery are needed.
Standard Kubernetes strategies Recreate and RollingUpdate do not cover scenarios of controlled traffic distribution between versions, simple rollback in case of errors, prevention of traffic downtime, and step-by-step rollout of a new version for some users.
Strategies and integrations
The module supports strategies:
- Blue-Green — the new version is deployed in parallel with the old one; Until the new version is ready, incoming traffic is sent to the working version, then switches to the new one.
- Canary - the old and new versions work simultaneously, and incoming traffic can be distributed between them.
To implement these scenarios, Argo Rollouts uses integration with Ingress controllers to route traffic, integration with metrics providers for Blue-Green and Canary analysis, automatic update rollback, and manages the creation, scaling and deletion of ReplicaSets.

Installation preconditions
shturval-rollouts — optional chart. By default it is installed in disabled state. When turning on after creating a cluster, make sure that the following services are installed and in auto-update mode:
shturval-rollouts-crds— CRD of the deployment control module;- shturval-ingress-controller — module for controlling external connections.
How to deploy this service - How to deploy a new service. If you need to redefine chart parameters, apply the changes via ShturvalServicePatch.
