Access to client clusters when the management cluster fails

If the management cluster is unavailable, there is no access to client clusters via kubeconfig.

Situation

the Shturval platform management cluster is unavailable. At the same time, client clusters continue to work, but there is no access to them through the platform and via kubeconfig.

Solution

To restore access to client clusters, restore the management cluster or switch to a standby management cluster in a DR configuration.

Recommendations

  • Set up DR configuration for quick recovery of the management cluster;
  • Document the procedure for recovery and switching to the backup management cluster;
  • Check the availability of the backup management cluster and the relevance of the DR configuration.
